- Puhoi-Warkworth Highway
The project, developed under a public-private partnership (PPP), involves the four-lane extension of the Northern Motorway (also called SH1) over 18.5 kilometers from the Johnstone’s Hill tunnels to the north of Warkworth in New Zealand.
It is the first section of the Ara Tūhono-Puhoi to Wellsford section, a strategic route for the
country’s transport network and key to joining the northern zone of the triangle formed by the
cities of Auckland, Waikato and Tauranga. The project is part of a state program to improve
passenger and goods transport between some of the main urban centers in New Zealand.
The Pūhoi-Warkworth highway is expected to be open for traffic by 2022.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway is part of the proposed plan to connect Highway 401 in Ontario to Interstate 75 in Michigan, by way of a new Canadian inspection plaza and bridge crossing being constructed by the Federal Government in West Windsor.
The City of Edmonton wishes to undertake the replacement of the existing two lane Walterdale Bridge with a new three lane bridge. The new Walterdale is an innovate bridge with pedestrian facilities including a multi-use trail on the east side and a sidewalk on the west side.
