    Orellana Solar Thermal Plant

50-MW plant with 74 km of parabolic trough mirrors.

In 2012, ACCIONA Energía commissioned its fifth solar thermal plant in Spain and its third in Extremadura, located in Orellana la Vieja (Badajoz). With a capacity of 50 MW, the Orellana plant produces clean energy equivalent to the electrical consumption of some 33,000 homes from the heat of the sun captured by its more than 166,000 mirrors, installed on a surface area comparable to two hundred soccer fields.
