The Federal Electricity Commission (Comisión Federal De Electricidad or CFE in Spanish) awarded a contract to transport energy generated at Empalme II power plant to the Mexican states of Sonora and Sinaloa.
ACCIONA Industrial began to design and construct a 117-kilometre electrical grid in 2015 to transport energy generated at the Empalme II combined cycle power plant to the states of Sonora and Sinaloa.
The project, awarded in the amount of 90 million U.S. dollars (about 85 million Euros) marks the first electrical grid construction project in Mexico awarded by CFE to ACCIONA. The electrical grid will consist of 117 kilometres of high-tension electrical wiring and four substations; it is expected to begin operations at the end of 2017.
