- Eurus Wind Farm
The Eurus wind farm is located in La Venta, in the municipality of Juchitán de Zaragoza, in the State of Oaxaca. It produces an average of 989 GWh of clean electricity per year, preventing the emission of 600,000 tons of CO2.
Eurus was built and is operated onsite by ACCIONA Energía México as a self-supply project for CEMEX, with a production capacity large enough to cover 25% of the energy needs of the Mexican company's cement plants.
In addition to the renewable and clean nature of the energy generated, the added value of Eurus from a social and environmental point of view lies in its positive interaction with its surroundings. In 2015 the project won the BID Infraestructura 360° award for the Impact on Population and Leadership category, which recognizes the noteworthy sustainability practices in infrastructure investments in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The Pioneer Grove Wind Farm is the first installation of ACCIONA's AW-3000 turbine in North America.
Pronounced Ta-tan-ka, it is a Lakota Sioux Indian word meaning “bison” or “buffalo.”
