    Pioneer Grove Wind Farm

The 3 megawatt turbines at Pioneer Grove use an innovative 116 meter rotor to capture more of the available wind energy and increase the production of electricity. The Pioneer Grove Wind Farm will generate enough clean energy to power nearly 4,000 Iowa homes.

    Cedar County, Iowa. EE.UU
    Wind power
6 MW capacity, using ACCIONA Windpower AW3000 3 MW wind turbine generators
    Projected CO2 emissions avoided
    Approximately 13,000 tons annually
    Completion date
    December 2012

The Pioneer Grove Wind Farm utilizes two different tower technologies, which are both suitable for the AW-3000.  One tower was constructed to a height of 92 meters, using steel, while the other tower uses an innovative concrete solution and reaches a height of 100 meters.

    Economic development

Pioneer Grove is the first wind energy project in Cedar County. The project generates lease payments for local landowners and tax revenue for Cedar County as well as jobs and economic growth for local contractors and businesses.

    ACCIONA Windpower

The Pioneer Grove Wind Farm is located less than 20 miles from ACCIONA Windpower's wind turbine generator assembly plant in West Branch, IA. This proximity will allow ACCIONA Windpower to manage the operations and maintenance of the wind farm from our existing facility.
